Raja
Mahipal was a famous king in the history.
King Vikramaditya & king Bhoj
were his ancestors. He was
much more impressed by the virtues of Tapagachh
Acharya Mahatma Posalia. By
the order of the Acharya he accepted Jainism.
His son was named Kochar.
Kochar was very brave
person. He joined in oswals
and his family was called Kochar.
As per the book ‘Mahajan Vansh Muktwali’ Mahipalji
was a treasurer in Rao Chuda’s
court. He had no son thus he was worried. One day Mahatma
Posaliaji of Tappa Gachh
came to Mahipal’s house and
requested him to do his work with the condition that if he would do his
work then he will also give him a boon.
Mahipalji did his work and in return he gave him a blessing that
soon he will be a father of a son if he follows the Jainism and worship
the Goddess Visal Devi or an
idol having 20 hands. She is
mounted on a Buffalo. He did
so. Devi
appeared and blessed him with the condition that he and his family will
worship her and especially on Ashoj
shukla 5th & Chait
shukla 4th every year. On the acceptation of it the Goddess
said to name the child when a bird Kochari
will sing on the top of you house. Mahipal
got a son and he named him Kochar.
From that day they are called Kocha.
